Hi,
That looks good, looks like a simple build as well, just slip it all together and add a little glue.
Good to hear you got a Slipso, would be interested in what you think about the model.

I have just run up the power train that we have proposed for the Slipso with the following results.
Using a 4.75X4.75 prop and 2s 2200 battery.
on starting 64w 8.6a dropping back to 58w 8a and running at that for about 5min at full throttle, using just over half of the battery capacity.
Is this enough or do we need to look at the prop size? by the way I have cornered the market on 4.75X4.75 props from Slough model shop they now have non left

Looking at the specs of a standard 400 brushed, this should be similar, its going to have to be a case of trying it out and see how the model fly's. The motor can take a bigger prop so we can experiment but the figures that we worked out should fly the model perfectly.

Just to add to the above the motor became warm to the touch but nothing excessive as I held it in my hand throughout the run, the esc remained cold and the battery remained cold. I don't have a rev counter so I am unable to give the revs and prop speed.

Phil,
Thank you for the update on the motor, both of mine have arrived but i am yet to test them. I will try and get the results at some point I also have a tacho so can get the rpm... I will see if i can bring it down on sunday (if you could bring your setup) and we can get the results.
I haven't got anymore emails about the delivery, i will check the online tracking again when home tonight and let you all know if anything has changed.

I just weighed a piece of brown paper and it came in at 93gm m2, glue won't add much to that but it is relatively heavy compared to to lightest glass cloth at 24gm m2 plus the same again for the resin if one is careful so around 50gm m2 for 1 layer. Glass would be much lighter if using WBPU.

Dave,
I think everyone is concerned about prop speed that is why the 4.75X4.75 was chosen I personally think we will have a little problem in hand launching with this setup, I would sooner go for a 6 x Something, but we must see what happens when we have a Slipso ready to go.

The motor has a hand written 2200, it does look like the second 2 could have been a 7 but it is a 2.
I have launched similar models on a brushed 400 and this is going to be lighter so i don't think it will be a real issue.

what rpm are you hoping for Gareth......it should be fine for launch on the 4.75 Phil, the one you don't want to use is the 4.1 x 4.1 you need arms of a javelin thrower to get them in the air with that prop.
i pick up my slypso sunday, dont know what motor is in it but hopefully i can get it in the air fairly quickly to see what its like

Don't forget you also have the option of putting a 3S pack in it if the performance on 2S falls well short of what you're expecting.

I have just done another quick calculation and with a 3s pack it would draw 18 amps and give a speed of 91Mph. with that we could also go with a slightly bigger prop to get even more speed and thrust.

Think I'll wait till you chaps test your setup before I go investing in any new 2s packs

I will get one of mine built quickly and try it out on a couple of different combo's to get workout what works best. if we work on the figures then it should be better then the brushed 400 and that was fine on the VIP.
