« on: July 16, 2010, 22:19:31 »
Your Invitation To The Slough RC Model Club 2010 Scale Fly-In
Sunday 29th August 2010

Please Register your interest Here.

We at SRCMC are holding a  Scale Fly-In event at our patch in Slough, Berkshire,  The date for the event is Sunday 29 August 2010 and activities will commence at 11am and conclude by 5pm.

For a map to help you find the event visit  Slough R/C Model Club.  Our patch is next to Slough Rugby Club in Upton Court Park in Slough, off Upton Court Road.  Nearest postcode is SL3 7LT.

This is a free event, open to flyers ( with a minimum BMFA A certificate) and spectators and promises to be a fun day for all.  Here's what you can expect on the day:

- Free entry and free car parking
- Food and refreshments available
- An opportunity for you to see the great range of scale models

Bring down your scale models and have a fly, when we say scale it means anything that looks similar in any way from 20 paces to a full size aircraft, free  burgers and hotdogs will be provided and cans of soft drink which will not be free.

We hope to hold a bring and buy stall for those unwanted bits and pieces, remember your rubbish is someone elses treasure.

This is a Scale day and should be limited to Scale models, For those that are worried about flying with helicopters about I do not believe that we have any scale helicopters so you should be safe on that front but please come down and see what is going on and meet all the members that don't get to fly very often.

There will be a raffle with prizes including:
a YT mustang

a bottle of OptiMix 4st fuel.

Hope to see you all down there for a great day out.

Guy,
I'm sorry that you and your boss were left in the lurch so to speak, however Gareth, Bob , Tim, Chris, Mik, and I did turn up and attempt to fly, between the rain and violent squalls.
You will notice at the next meeting that there is a large hole in my hanger display where the Mosquito used to hang, I crashed it due to poor flying and extremely bad flying conditions.
However we would have stayed and fired up the BBQ had there been a few more members present at lunch time, unfortunately that was not the case.

I wouldn't put too much blame on yourself Phil,it was borderline unflyable today - blustery and turbulent at more or less any height based on the flight i put in. Sudden uncommanded banks of 60'degrees each way aren't much fun when 4 foot high on landing approach!

Its a shame it petered out but you cant help the weather.

Thanks for putting an event together guys, I know its an uphill struggle.

Yea its a shame. Its just the "typical" Bank Holiday weather playing its part in the low turnout.

What can you do about that.

My boss didnt mind so much, and I was pretty tied up anyway so it sort of did me a favour.

Sorry about your models Phil, I know the feeling cause I've got nothing flyable at the moment!

I didn't look @ this site before I rocked up at the patch @ my usual time of about 2pm yesterday.   The wind was much stronger at the patch than at my home!  LOL

I noticed there was nobody there (car park even empty), but as the guys are saying, heck of a windy & gusty !

Wind seems a lot better from my place (in Maidenhead) today.  I'm wondering if anyone is planning to hit the patch today since its a bank holiday?

I guess I'll have to pop over and have a look.... a bit too late for anyone to answer re patch today!
