I know MikeH sells Xoar props here in the UK. I will order a 13x8 and 14x7.
I will check what readings I get on the apc 12x6 & 13x8 props. When I get the Xoar props I will compare the 13x8 xoar to the apc prop.
When I re-charge the lipos I will know if my calculations and current setup is giving me good flight times.

Just after the Pawnee's four flight
Just recharged packs ,
the 5s 5000 pack put back in 2174.
The 5s 3000 pack put back in 2600
These results look good. The next two flights I will use different throttle settings through the flight and see what mah goes back in the packs. I think at the moment 5min flight timed are about right.

After some thought I decided to strip out the motor and esc from the pawnee. I found with the Xoar props that flight time's are still within the 5-6 min time band.
Now the Wot trainer has been moved on that left me with a spare engine. After some research and talking on some forums it seems the OS46 engine will fly the Pawnee at a scale level of power not much different to the electric motor setup I had.
So with flight times in the 8-10 min section I have made progress installing the engine. So once its ready I will do some trials with the pawnee and see how much power is needed to get up to take off speed. If all is good and have plenty of power in reserve than I will attempt a flight.

I finally finished the Pawnee transformation to nitro. As the weather was looking nice yesterday i decided to take it out to run up the engine and check for any vibrations in the airframe and any signs of control flutter from vibrations. After a full tank was run through I rechecked all control links, servo mounts etc and then removed the spinner, prop and cowl. I did this to check for any problems with the engine mounting, fuel lines/leaks etc.
As all was fine I configured the Pawnee for flight but as the OS46FX is at the bottom end of the power scale for the Pawnee I planned to first taxi it up and down the patch to see how much power I would need to reach take off speed. This was a none event as on the first taxi it was clear that the engine has enough power as the Pawnee's tail was off the ground at 1/3 throttle.
So Taxed back to the threshold, I checked the fuel level and all was good. Progressive throttle was applied and at 1/2 throttle the Pawnee rotated with 35% flaps set. Move throttle was appled to 3/4 setting and the pawnee responded with a positive climbout. It's clear with this configuration that the pawnee needs to be flown with around 25-30 degree climbout with flaps.
Perfect for this model and shows of its scale side.
Landing was a nonevent. The approach was started at a good height with around 1/4 throttle. I flew far out to achieve the downwind position and reduced height while on the approach. Just over the threshold throttle was reduced to idle and she settled in to a nice configuration for landing. All three touched for a good landing.
Flight time was eight and half minutes which left under quarter of a tank of fuel.
